Invoking The Spirit of ‘Teddy’—Trump’s Theatrics and The Specter of War Against Cuba

Is it any wonder that Trump is speaking today at a Teddy Rosevelt Memorial, rows of white men dressed in mock late 1800’s Army uniforms (worn during the campaign to conquer Cuba, then then cloaked in terms of “liberation” from Spanish Colonialism)–a war that ironically resulted on several US colonies, including Puerto Rico and Guam, and what were intended as forever client states in Cuba and the Philippines.

Why this specter on this eve of the 4th of July? Well, isn’t it obvious–this is yet another event by which the US public is being conditioned for an Imperialist invasion of Cuba…They have said that Cuba is next. They have criminalized Raul Castro, and under that pretext, intend to extract him from the island as they did Maduro from Cuba, although perhaps not so easily in the case of Cuba.

How much longer will we as citizens stand by idle while Fascism and Empire advance at a frightening pace, feasting on the blood of the innocent and the freedom fighters, on the toil of hard-working hands, in the name of patriotism, of Judeo-Christianity, of so-called Western civilization. How much longer…on our watch, on our dime, with our tacit consent? Wake up People!

History, God, and the innocent children and mothers who this government and those like it have unleashed hell on–certainly, they will judge us!
